How To Say “No” To A Well-Meaning
Window Salesman Without Making It Awkward

Here’s How To Politely Turn Them Down…
Without Hurting Their Feelings.

Believe it or not, window salesmen have feelings. (Some of them, anyway.)

At 6 Minute Windows of Central VA, we rag on window salespeople a lot for being conniving, calculated, and aggressive. But there are some honest and upright ones out there. They may be rarer than Big Foot, but they do exist.

Unfortunately, these are the salespeople it’s ESPECIALLY hard to say “no” to.

The high-pressure guys?

It’s easy to have ZERO qualms about booting their butts to the curb.

But saying “no” to an honest window salesman who’s just trying to put bread on the table?

It can feel a bit like kicking a puppy.

Even so…

The nice window salesman’s offer just might not be right for you.

You may not like the windows. Or the price may be too high. Or one of a dozen other things.

In this instance, you have to do what’s best for YOU. Don’t feel obligated to buy just because the salesperson is nice and you don’t want to hurt their feelings.

You’re probably thinking, “I’d never spend thousands of dollars out of guilt. NEVER!”

Maybe you wouldn’t. But we’ve heard from plenty of homeowners who said the same… and ended up cutting a check anyway.

Afterward, their regret level was a firm 14 out of 10.

Here’s how to break the bad news to a nice window salesperson…

Give a firm “no.”

Window salespeople are bad “breaker uppers.” They just don’t know when the relationship is over unless you FIRMLY tell them.

If you don’t give them a hard “no,” they’ll keep contacting you to see if you’ve “given any more thought” to doing business with their company.

This is why you need to be 100% clear that you do not want to do business with the salesperson’s company. It might seem harsh, but you have to treat it like ripping off a band-aid.

Let them know it wasn’t anything they did.

If the salesperson genuinely did a good job, let them know. Tell them it wasn’t anything they did or said—they were great! But that their products/prices/whatever just aren’t what you had in mind.

Tell them you’ll likely refer them to a friend

The windows the nice salesperson is selling may not be right for you, but they could be right for someone else. Let the salesperson know you’ll refer them and their company to someone you know who may need new windows in the future. This way, the sales meeting ends on a positive note for both parties.

Don’t waver.

No matter how big a salesperson’s puppy-dog eyes get, don’t waver in your decision. This is a good chunk of money you’re spending—you should NEVER settle for anything less than EXACTLY what you want.

This all might seem a little… silly.

“How to say ‘no’ to a window salesperson? Who cares!”

But trust us…

It can be tough to say “no” to someone when they’re staring you in the face.

Especially when they’ve put a ton of work into impressing you.

Fortunately, there’s a way you can completely avoid this situation altogether.

At 6 Minute Windows, you can buy new windows online… without talking to a salesperson. No face-to-face meeting. No awkward situations. You get to buy windows on YOUR terms.

If you prefer to speak to someone, our 6-minute appointments also make things easy and stress-free.

We don’t subject you to a sales pitch, and we put ZERO pressure on you to buy. We simply ask you about your home, give you a little info about our windows, and then provide a firm price.

The best part? We can have your appointment in your home, by phone, or via virtual consultation. Whatever’s most convenient for you is what works for us.

Whether you decide to buy is 100% up to YOU… the way it should be.
